a funny morning message

I received the funniest text message from Jeremy this morning.

The caption read, “I need more sleep. Put on 2 different shoes this morning”

With this picture...

And 5 months later- we still need more sleep.

It starts with an R....and we may have one!

We may….actually have…a ROUTINE!! Well…let me re-phrase that…a night time routine! This girl still sleeps whenever & wherever during the day. But at 5 months old I can proudly say we have an average bedtime and she is starting to sleep in HER Crib! I thought I would the mother that would have her in her crib before I went back to work. But this little stinker still wakes around 5 am- so it was easier having her next to us in the bassinet. Once we started realizing she was getting super tired around 8:30 or so- we started putting her in her crib so we wouldn’t have to tiptoe around while we were getting ready for bed. So she goes to bed around 8:30 or 9 and sleeps until about 5 usually. We have had some lucky mornings where she has slept until 6, but 5 is the norm. The sad thing is- I am more tired now than when I was on maternity leave and she was waking up 2 times a night. I just can’t go back to bed after she eats around 5. I just toss and turn and I think that makes me more tired! I could get up and workout…who am I kidding?! The best thing is she goes right to sleep. I may have to put her paci in once or twice but she puts herself to sleep. It’s great! I love rocking her but I never wanted to get her used to being rocked to sleep so she now falls asleep on her own- and it’s wonderful!!
So…we have a bedtime and she is sleeping in her crib! It only took 5 months- Im still pretty proud :) She isn’t really too excited about cereal though- I thought she would love it…she really doesn’t want it. Maybe it’s the texture? We will give her a couple days and maybe she will forget!

LOVE LOVE this girl!
LOVE them :)

5 FABULOUS months!

The past 5 months have been AMAZING, fast and life changing to say the least. My sweet sweet girl is 5 months old and I can hardly believe it. (Im hoping one day I still have this blog and Ill be writing that Hannah is 5, 15 or 25!) Im sure technology will have changed in more ways than we can imagine by then. So Ill just focus on the BEST 5 months of our lives.
I absolutely love this stage. She is more engaging and more engaged every day. She is So aware of everything and laughs and smiles for most of the day...and when she is not we sometimes nickname her Patty....as in Crabby Patty (yes I do believe that is from spongebob). She does have her moments but I usually just laugh and help get her through whatever seems to trouble her (a bottle, a diaper or a change of scenery). She really is such a happy, content little girl. She loves her excersaucer now and doesnt really love being laid on the floor. She wants to sit up so badly and do so many things. Im looking forward to her sitting up because there will be so much more she can do. We know once she starts moving- she wont stop! Her hands dont stop- if you are sitting at a table with her she reaches and grabs for everything in front of her. I didnt realize that started so early! And once its in her hands- it goes right into her mouth! She loves putting her sweet little toes in her mouth- its such a cute sight! She still loves the bath and is now splashing around at bath time. Which is why I think she likes the pool so much too- its just one giant bath right?
This girl has or is close to doubling her birth weight! Whew that car seat is heavy. We are in the car seat dilemma because that infant carrier is so heavy to carry around but she cant sit up in a grocery cart. And packing her around Walmart is not an option! We do have her big girl car seat which we have tried a couple times but once she hits 22 pounds she has to move up to the big seat- so we will probably just wait until then. Im not sure how much she weighs- she doesnt have a well check up until 6 months and our scale doesnt give an accurate reading on her- its usually a couple pounds less. (Wish I could say the same for myself!)
We have decided they need to make a plus size baby line because the first item would be the Jumbo Bumbo. She gets stuck going in and stuck coming out! Her legs are Huge!! Precious but huge :) She is even in size 3 diapers...I hope she doesnt get to size 4 anytime soon because they should last until 28 pounds!
Her hair is starting to grow back some- and it is getting curly!! Its getting alot lighter too! She actually has roots on top! Her hair on top is almost 3 inches long and you can see the line where it turns lighter. The only baby that needs a color job :)
Jeremy and I are having so much fun with her right now. Some of my favorite moments are right before bed. For some reason right after her last bottle she is so smiley! We just lay her in our bed and laugh and laugh! Those are the moments Ill always remember. And when she laughs it truly brings tears to my eyes. The best sound I have ever heard.
We have been blessed with such a healthy, sweet and beautiful baby girl. There are so many things to come and I cant wait!

the sweetest moments!

another first!

Somebody had cereal for the very first time!! This girl is ready to eat- anything and everything! She puts everything in her mouth- she also reaches and grabs for your food and watches us eat everything! It’s too cute! So we decided we would try her on cereal for about a month before we start the good stuff! It went well…she didn’t exactly spit it out! She definitely knew it was different but I think in a few days she will get used to it and love cereal time!
poor girl-someone is always messing with her hair! she got a mohawk right before cereal time!
this is ok...
I want more!!!
Im having fun! But it doesnt look like Hannah is!
Dads turn!
I'm interested to see how she takes to baby food! Or we might just skip that and go straight to table food- can you tell she doesnt miss a meal :)

Sun & Fun!

We have our vacation BOOKED! We are heading to Topsail, NC the week of 4th of July. We are ALL so excited. It will be nothing but sun and relaxation. There is not a ton to do in Topsail but we love it there. It’s so relaxing and beautiful!! I haven’t been to the beach in almost 3 years since Jamaica for our Honeymoon. Jeremy won’t be going this year- SO sad….so Ill take a ton of pictures for him! It will be Hannah and me, my parents, Alex, Lindsay and Matt. Martha Stewart (I mean my mom) has already started creating a menu and lists of movies and games we need…have I mentioned how much I love being with my family??
My little bean will be wearing a variety of bathing suits which include:

this was our first trip to the pool- in her first bathing suit! She loved the water!

and a couple from Baby Gap (which I LOVE by the way)

she will be too cute for words in these!!

when your mom is your babysitter....

she meets you at work every morning to pick Hannah up...

she meets you after work so you can take Hannah home...

she fixes dinner for you to take home to your family...

she sends random picture texts of your daughter playing & sleeping...

she calls with updates during the day...

she meets you for lunch so you can spend an hour with your girl...
she goes shopping, finds great sales and buys you all this....

most importantly she loves her more than any other babysitter could!!

mom, when are you retiring?

catch up!

Whew!! We have been busy! This past weekend we met my friend Jessica for dinner on the river which was so nice! I am usually so exhausted on Friday nights that we don’t do anything but it felt so great to get out and enjoy a beautiful day! It made me feel like I had a longer weekend than I did! I am so spoiled by having Half Day Fridays every other Friday. So every other Friday I get off at noon- its SUCH a treat!! Makes me feel like I have a longer weekend than I do, so when Its my full day the weekend goes by way to fast!
Jess & Hannah
Saturday Jeremys parents and grandparents came in town for a little bit- it was so nice to see them! Hannah was a sweetie and a little love bug! We will be heading back to Owensboro on Sunday to see some of Jeremys oldest friends and their kids. Its SO fun that we all have kids now- I love seeing them all together. I know I will have great pictures of all of them!
Sunday I had planned on either the pool or the zoo but it was necessary that we do some landscaping. Our yard needed it! That was nice though- so this Saturday is either a pool day or a zoo day! I cant wait to get out to the zoo. I realize Hannah wont notice much of it but I love going!!
My mom starts watching Hannah tomorrow- she hates the word daycare so she is calling it Granmommys Child Enrichment Center- Im calling it Hannah Bootcamp. My mom has to get this girls nap schedule in check!! So…bootcamp for Hannah! Coming from two parents that LOVE to nap- she doesn’t nap very well. Go figure. She is such a catnapper…hopefully my mom can change that! Oh and do we have a schedule yet…not really. I was hoping by my next post I could say yes but there is no rhyme or reason to her days. She is starting to get her last bottle at 8:30 and falling asleep between 8:45 and 9, and usually sleeps until 5 am. Which really is great but I SO wish we could push that back to about 7…It wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t have to get up for work, but I do. Maybe I should just get up after she eats and do something useful with the time. UGH! That is just too early for me- and Im an early bird! I usually try and lay back down until 6:30, but I usually toss and turn. Making for one tired momma!
Hannah and I made it to Jeremy’s softball game last night- she looked so cute in her Joe’s onesie. Jeremy’s softball team is sponsored by Joes Older than Dirt (a bar in Louisville) so I made her a onesie with their logo on it. Jeremy says he thinks she is the only 4 month old wearing a bar shirt! It was too cute! They won- so maybe she is good luck!

We are still working out vacation plans- we are definitely going July 4th week but we have no clue if we should risk Destin or head to the Carolinas. We found a great place in Destin but how can you enjoy the beach if you can’t walk on it or get in!?
Oh and Hannah got her first balloon at one of our favorite mexican restaurants- she put it right in her mouth- she puts everything in her mouth now!!!
