San Francisco Getaway!

We were able to escape to San Francisco for 2 quick but wonderful days while my mom was in town. I found flights for $49 one way, our roundtrip flights were cheaper than the hotel! It was a deal we couldnt pass up and we might as well see all we can see while we are out this way!
It was so great to getaway for a quick trip and spend some quality time for our birthdays and anniversary. We left super early in the morning for a quick flight and then thrown into the world of public transportation....wow. Id say we spent alot of our time navigating transportation so we ended up just walking a TON because it was easier. My body ached for days afterwards!!

Flying alone!! I actually got to enjoy hot coffee without worrying who would spill it first!
Ghirardelli Square was one of our first stops...it was delicious :) We mapped it from our hotel and decided to walk it. Holy cow it was far and the hills, wow. But it felt good to get out and walk and see the sights!
We took a tour of some boats on the pier, that was neat too. Some beautiful sights of the Bay!

Our view from lunch and we heard the seals!

Our hotel was in Union square downtown, which I think if we could do it again Id stay closer to the wharf but we did see some interesting things!

$11 sundae was worth it...and we got it twice :) When in Rome, right?!

After we toured the piers and had some delicious lunch we had our first great transportation mishap! We jumped on a bus to head back to downtown and put $20 in his machine. Well no change came out. It was $2.25 a person. So Im like, I need my change. He basically laughs at me and says it doesnt give change. Im like no way we just lost $15 bucks in a bus. So we sit, and he literally turns the corner and parks and says he's taking a break!?!? Im like, what?! So we just paid $20 to go 20 feet? He tells us to get off and wait for him, like 15 mins and we get back on his bus. Then he says he will try and help us get our cash back. So anyone who walks on and pays him in cash, he directs them to Jeremy and Jeremy becomes the cashier. At the time it was hardly laughable but now we can laugh. We learned our lesson! Lets just say it wasnt the most tourist friendly city!

We headed back to the hotel to shower and get our room and get ready for the game. So we realized the Giants division series game was going to be in San Francisco while we were there. We found tickets we thought were pretty good and figured this was probably not something we'd get to do again! So we headed to the game early and it was ALOT of fun. I am so glad we did that!! The walk home was very interesting with a police shooting right near the stadium but needless to say, I was almost running ha ha.
 AT&T Park

Our seats were right next to the cove that people park their boats and kayaks in and try to catch home run or foul balls. It was an AWESOME view!!
Whenever a ball was hit over all the kayakers would paddle to get the ball!

Such a fun thing to get to do!!
We crashed that night since we had been up since 4 am but our hotel room was nice and quiet even though we didnt spend much time there.

The next morning our first stop was the Alcatraz tour, one of my FAVORITE parts. I knew this had to be on the agenda! It was AWESOME. I loved it. We had another transportation mishap and we were booking it from downtown to the wharf because we could never find bus stops!

Foggy morning made for some neat pics!

One of the former prisoners was there for a book signing. I really wish he had done a session on his time there but he was just signing books. Now I wish I had gotten it!

Alcatraz means Island of the Sea Birds, so many different kinds of birds nest there now.

After Alcatraz we went and grabbed lunch, loved the views!
Next up was the Golden Gate Bridge. Again, we couldnt find the right bus so we took a cab up there but Im glad we did it. It was WINDY but had some great views!!

After that we headed back to Ghirardhelli square for more ice cream, so shops and the views. Then we stood in line for the cable cars for awhile but it was neat to do. I tell you what, those hills were no joke when you are hanging on the side of a cable car! Well, Jeremy did, I took a seat! ha ha!

Then we stopped back at the hotel and grabbed our stuff and headed to the airport. It was a great trip we'll always remember!!

Wow! You two should write a travel guide on how to cram the most sights into 36 hours! What beautiful pics- esp of the both of you!
