Owen turns 3! (And turns into a "threenager")

I always say it, where does the time go? It flies by and even more when you have kids. Unreal to think when we moved here he was 10 months and just crawling. He's done alot since we've been here. I've cherished the time I have had at home with him. This kid is something else. I knew when we found out he was a boy that I would have that sweet "mommas boy" connection. And we definitely do. There is something about boys. He just stole my heart in a different way. I struggle with the fact that he is a toddler, no baby left to be found. I am thankful he will occasionally let me kiss the heck out of his face though! Sometimes, he'll just grab my face and kiss me. I mean, talk about melting your heart! And then most of the time he runs from me laughing. At night I say, good night Owen, I love you. He says, "wuv you" and I say, Forever? He says, "for eee ver" It's the sweetest thing.

He is ALL boy. I know most boys are all boy but he is literally one of the most physical boys Ive ever seen. He turns everything into a bat or a weapon, he will karate chop everything (thanks power rangers!) and he would play EVERY single sport he could. He WILL do big things in sports I can just feel it. He can already hit a coach pitched baseball, and FAR. He is pretty tall for his age and people always comment how tall he is. I will never forget when my mom and I flew to California, it must have been last October, a man (looked like a big former football player)  commented that he was definitely going to play football and would be great at it. Just by looking at him he thought that. I believe it now!

 Birthday morning!

This kid is hilarious. I know he gets it from his sister but he keeps us laughing constantly. We always look at eachother and say, he is so crazy! As a two year old he was EASY. I mean easier than Hannah ever was. I figured we'd sail through the toddler years but the hard year is upon us. What I've heard referred to as a "threenager". It's been going on for about 2 weeks and there is no end in sight. He's been getting out of his bed for awhile now. I was able to get him to stay in there and nap after several tries but he's just plain done with it. Hannah was almost 3.5 when she stopped napping (right after we moved here) so I guess it's time. But his crib mattress is on the floor, like I took the wire frame out and that thing is laying on the floor. He is so strong he just gets out.
So our conversations go like this, "Owen, it's nap time, we have to stay in our bed."
O: I get out of my bed.
Me: No, it's time for a rest, so you have to stay in there. If you get out, I'll put you back in.
O: I get out again.

Well, there I have it, and he wins. We've played that game of back & forth in the bed but he does just get out again. It's fine and I had it really good for a long time (3.5 hour naps!) but naps have come to an end. It just makes him REALLY grouchy between 4 and 6. Like he has been falling asleep during dinner, not good!

Other than the attitude I get lately, his favorite phrase is "No I not" like in reference to, you need to clean up your mess, you need to eat your food, stop hitting your sister, the list goes on.

And he can throw some SERIOUS fits. This one, this was over a banana peel. Remember when I said he was all boy. He chucked a banana peel like 10 feet. I told him he couldnt have the banana for a snack until he picked up the peel and threw it away. That led to 30 minutes of screaming on the floor. I wasnt even telling him he couldnt have it, just that he had to throw it away. The power struggle is real! I wasnt giving in. But he is SO stubborn he would not go throw it away!
this is from the banana fit!

He is also not interested in potty training. Well, I take that back, if he is naked, he will actually go use the potty. But if he has anything on he thinks its a diaper and we get a big mess. Once Hannah is out of school, we are going to get serious! He has to be potty trained so he can go to preschool next year!
My favorite potty training story: So we have spider man underwear for him and we try it on days we are feeling brave ha ha So he was in his underwear and I told him, you cant potty on spiderman, or he will cry. Ok, we don't potty him, he'll be really sad and cry.
About 30 minutes later he comes running in holding soaking wet underwear in the air, yelling, "He didnt cry, He didnt cry!" Touche little boy!

He also has some pretty funny knock knock jokes, they all involve cockroaches coming at your head! So it goes, O: knock knock Us: Who's there? O: Cockroach coming at your head! And he laughs and laughs.

He is so loveable, so squishy, so delicious. I cant get enough of him. I told Jeremy when Hannah was this age, Owen was a new baby & I didnt get to take in all the hilarious 2-3 year old funnies. I definitely loved all the funny things she did and loved the stage she was in but we had a new baby and I don't think I soaked them up like I am with him. Knowing he's probably our last I am just taking it all in. Some days I won't believe it that he is completely out of the baby stages. I still can't get rid of all their baby things :)
He spent his birthday night at sissy's baseball game so he got his own hot chocolate at Starbucks. Then he ran in circles for 20 minutes and I decided he could never have another!

He absolutely adores his sister. Hannah was always so good at sharing with him and it's rubbing off on him. We were at the store the other day while Hannah was at school, and I told him he could get some snack and he grabbed two and said, "for Hannah". Im like, of course, you precious angel!! He gets SO sad when he doesnt get to go with her. He feels so left out if she gets to do something he doesnt. They really are so close and I know it's because we've spent the last two years spending lots of quality time together getting to stay home. Im so thankful for that.
She was SO excited to pick out three candles for him. She couldnt wait to wake him up the morning of his birthday. I love the picture below, she just adores him too!

He is adorable. Has a smile that just melts your heart. He is funny. He loves to laugh. He may not be napping anymore but he is still a great sleeper. He loves all things boy, sports, trucks, trains, you name it. He has chubby little hands and cheeks, he has this adorable head of blonde hair and big brown eyes that melt you. He is funny about food, he actually eats pretty healthy but doesnt eat alot. After three bites at dinner we joke that he will be good for a week. But if Im eating my own food, he'll come eat half of it. He'd rather play in dirt and dig and swing a bat then sit down and learn something Im trying to teach him. Im hoping he does much better for preschool teachers :)

I love this kid with all my heart. He has definitely stolen my heart and I can't get enough of him. Stop growing big boy!!!
