Flying with kids...where time stands still

As thankful as I am that we have a pretty open schedule to travel when we want, traveling with the kids is just plain hard. Of course if you had asked me 2 years ago if I could be a stay at home and take two kids to the grocery store I would have laughed. But now, I do things much harder, things I never thought I would even consider! And here we are...another trip to the beach! I remember how nervous I was to fly to Louisville, direct from Las Vegas. That's a walk in the park compared to layovers and plane changes. Im pretty sure time goes as slow as possible on airplanes and in airports. I have lots of stories!

Moving on! We were meeting my parents at the beach for my moms winter break and to do more work to the house. It was going to be a relaxing week, and it was! Thankfully, it was MUCH less eventful than the last trip! We had a great time!

Friday Hannah was out of school so we made it a donut day. Owen was not happy about donut pictures!
Saturday morning we spent Valentine's day flying but the kids did a really great job. We flew through Nashville which is my ideal layover spot. The first flight is about 3 hours 10 mins and the second is an hour 10 if that. Its a breeze! And somebody is a GENIUS because the Nashville airport has a playground and it was right across from our gate. HEAVEN.

The Vegas airport is always packed and Owen likes to take off running from me. It's special.

I've given up on bringing the carseat on the plane. Even though it restrains Owen and is the best way to keep him in the seat, it is a disaster to bring on. No one ever helps me so I have two kids, a backpack, a huge bag, stroller, carseat. It just doesn't work without help.

She filled her time taking videos of herself! I have to keep all her videos, they are pretty funny!
I bring books, games, coloring books, ipads, movies, you name it. And they read the flight instructions!
They are so good about flying, the love take off and landing! Our landing into Nashville actually scared me and Im not scared of flying. Someone was yelling from the back of the plane when one of the wings almost touched the ground and the kids were laughing!
Nashville airport has a playground, GENIUS!
They ran and ran and ran until our next flight. It was great.
On the flight to Charleston it was less than half full, so Miss 5 year old got her own row! She was in heaven. It helped me too, the kids together....that's when they are a handful!

He is so sweet!

He was my sleeping buddy for a few nights until we got him moved to his pack n play, he is so cuddly!
We made it to the beach once, Im not going to lie, Las Vegas has made me very weak to the cold! I was FREEZING. I froze all week! It was beautiful though. We went at low tide and found tons of live sand dollars, it was really neat!

Owen just finds a spot and digs!

We froze but we still visited local ice cream shops!

Cornhole at the Marina, lasted all of 3 minutes!
We drove into "town" one day and shopped a little. The kids were troopers. We spent some time at Pet Smart, they loved tiny shopping carts and looking at fish and hamsters ha ha

 Kid loves to be naked.
They spend alot of nights playing in the shower!
We visited a nature center on Kiawah Island, it was fun!
 And more ice cream :)
The elevator got installed, it was a fun ride for the kids!
Leaving is ALWAYS hard. I am always crying, I just cant help it. Thankfully I have this funny girl to make me laugh!
LONGEST Day ever traveling back home. 12 hours traveling. Two LONG flights, about 3 hours each, a 3 hour layover and 2 over tired kids.
 This is how I felt.
We found an empty spot to play. This was AFTER Owen took off RUNNING. Full on sprint from me. I looked like I was running for my life after him. I wanted someone to help me out and grab him but Ive learned alot while traveling alone with kids. NO ONE is helpful. It's sad really! We are taking advantage of our freedom to travel before she starts kindergarten so we're going home and to the beach for Spring Break. But it will be a breeze since we fly direct to Louisville and then coming home we fly through the glorious Nashville! That I can handle!
