leaving on a jet plane...

we are leaving Monday morning and heading to CALIFORNIA! YAY! I am so excited! My nerves have settled about taking Hannah on the plane- she is a great baby and as long as she is full she is pretty happy! So I am taking all of the milk we have left in the house and plan on feeding her as much as she wants...hey she is on vacation- she can splurge if she wants :)
It takes alot of preparation to travel with a baby- at least her clothes are tiny! I've got 15 diapers for the airport, almost all our bottles, ice packs to keep the milk cold (lets hope we dont have a problem getting all that liquid through security!), and tylenol- among lots of other things! I dont even have one magazine packed...I know we will be kept busy with H!
Trickiest part is her carseat and base...we were told that you can put the carseat in a bag and not have to count it as a checked bag...which is good because checked bag fees are ridiculous! So we will be bubble wrapping the whole car seat and base, sticking it in a bag and hoping it makes it to California! Or Hannah and I will be stuck in the airport until someone comes back with a carseat! Ha...just kidding. It will get there safe and sound I know!
Wish us LUCK! The weather is suppose to be cool in California and it is actually suppose to be warmer here! Yikes! But we will be on vacation and not at home cleaning and doing laundry, so I dont mind! We will miss Jeremy though...lets hope he catches up on sleep!

sleep & sunshine!

Its the most beautiful day out there today! Its probably the most beautiful day by far because we are all 3 (4 if you count Ruby!) coming off of 9 straight hours of sleep last night! Amazing! We had one tired little girl! We turned the lights of at 9:30 and we woke at 6:30 to Jeremy's alarm clock. We had to wake her up to change and feed her! Wow! Hannah and I got ready for the day (it takes us about 2 hours to get ready to go anywhere) and headed to the mall to see the Easter Bunny! This year isnt the year of Hannah crying in the middle of the mall because the Easter Bunny scares her- that will come next year. She was a happy camper! A little hard to get a 9 week old to look at the camera & smile but the pictures turned out pretty cute. At least her eyes were open! My mom even got a few on my camera :) We shopped around, got some last minute California things and now Jeremy is working in the yard, smoking a chicken and Im tidying and packing. California here we come!

We went shopping tonight and look what we came home with- monkey pj's!! Granmommy spoiled Hannah like always and got her tons of cute California and summer clothes! Adorable!! When we first brought Hannah home I loved the gowns- they were perfect for middle of the night diaper changes and cute too! But...as she got bigger they got a little harder to put on! It was a battle to squeeze her...uh...not so little arms through! So- I have been looking all over for 2 piece pj sets and found adorable sets at Old Navy and Childrens Place.

2 months old!

Our little girl is 2 months old!! I cant believe how fast its gone and how grown up she looks :) She is looking older everyday and gets sweeter everyday! She is so fun right now- smiling, almost laughing-(she is so close!), and loves to play! She loves bright lights and loves being talked to & played with. We went to the doctor today for her 2 month check up...she weighs...drum roll please...12 pounds 12 ounces! WOW!! What is this girl eating...you would think meat and potatoes! She was in the 95th% for weight and 22.5 inches long! We have a hefty girl on our hands :) But the doctor said she looks great and is right on track. We have loved every minute of watching her grow and change.
Before Hannah was born we could only imagine what life would be like with a newborn and now, I cant remember what it was like without her! She is such an amazing addition to our family we cant wait for all the new milestones to come!

A week from today we (my mom, my sister, Hannah and I) are headed to SUNNY California!! Yes...we are those people taking a newborn on an airplane...I think she will do great! I am so excited for Hannah to meet my Grammy & Bumpah. This is their first great grandchild and I know they cant wait either! We will be visiting them in San Diego and also visiting our best family friends in Chino Hills. No Disneyland for Hannah (just a tad young and Jeremy better be there for her first Disney trip!) but we have many places to visit while we are there! We always make sure to grab an In-n-Out Burger (Best burger EVER made!), Pink Berry Yogurt, an old favorite- Grazianos Pizza, and many more! Wish us luck as Hannah makes her first trip 2000 miles away!! Jeremy will miss her like CRAZY!!!!!!! Im pretty sure he plans on SLEEPING :)

i'd make a good stay at home mom...

I have 3.5 weeks left of my maternity leave (of course Jeremy is tired of hearing me complain- he says "you get 12 weeks!") which to a man is a really long time- but to a new mom- its not long enough! So in preparing for my return to work we have been looking at daycares. I am so LUCKY that my mom will watch her from June to August but we have been searching for places for the before and after. We have finally found two AWESOME places. We will be using Middletown United Methodist Church for about 5 or 8 weeks (we might get a family friend to watch her in our house for 3 weeks!), then my mom will watch her, and then we will be using Evergreen Christian Preschool starting in August. I am very happy with both of those places. I thought finding a daycare would be so easy...but its hard to find a place that you think will do as good of a job as you can!
During our daycare search I decided that I could make a really good stay at home mom. The house would always be clean, I'd have time to make gourmet home cooked meals, I would go to the gym and get into really good shape (who am I kidding on the last two? ha!), Hannah and I would spend quality time playing and learning....it would be so wonderful- we just have to hit the powerball first. Now dont get me wrong...I have nothing against daycares- as a matter of fact I think they are a GREAT place for children to learn socialization skills etc. but I dont think its fair that someone else gets to spend most of the day with my daughter instead of me! Of course- if we want any more "Hannahs" in the future....Ill be working. Forever.
How am I going to leave this face on April 13th? Its going to be a SAD day at the Adkins household!

guys & their girls

we had a great weekend this past weekend! We were busy but it was fun! Friday we went to dinner with Blake & Court- we love seeing them and are hoping to plan a trip with them this fall (how can I leave my girl? I know Ill be a nervous wreck but Granmommy will take great care of her!) Saturday we had dinner at my parents house- Alex is home for spring break so I had to go get my fill of my precious angel! Sunday we headed to Owensboro to visit Jeremy's family. Jacey & Justin love seeing their cousin- although I think Jacey was a little jealous that someone had more attention than her!
Jeremys friend Matt, his wife and their daughter Delaina came to visit too! Delaina is almost 8 months old and precious!! She has the most contagious laugh! I dont want to wish away Hannah's baby months but I cant wait for her to start laughing!! I got a picture of Matt & Jeremy with their girls. I just love this- they are both so in love with their daughters it makes me smile :) It was so cute to hear them trade baby stories instead of hunting and fishing stories (of course Matt always has a hunting or fishing story!) Its incredible to watch a dad with his daughter...there is nothing better!! Its a good thing because Jeremy will have all girls ;)

Hannah is still doing great through the night! I think the prevacid is really helping! She is sleeping between 6-8 hours and I couldn't be happier! Jeremy is getting up earlier for work now and is able to sleep all night without a wake up call! Hannah is really into her Baby Einstien play mat and loves to look at the lights and herself in the mirror! She is really fun right now- she smiles so much, is so alert and loves to look around! 4 weeks left with my precious girl! It has gone FAST!!!!!!!!

She slept from about 10:30 to 6:30!!! I am so proud! Although- I have to admit, I didnt even wake until 5:15 to make sure she was still breathing! And I was so excited she had been asleep for so long I couldnt go back to bed myself. Probably because I was waiting for her to wake up any minute squaking for milk!! But she slept until Jeremy took her in for a diaper change. And she was all smiles!

hanimal

ok- so, the other night at dinner my brother jokingly called Hannah- "Hanimal". Hilarious. Well...it stuck. Jeremy and I have been calling her that and think its so funny! I was afraid of Hannah Banana or Hannah Montana...but it looks like we could avoid those. Hanimal wont stick forever- its not a cute nickname like "ladybug" which my mom called me or sometimes I call Hannah lovebug or peanut...but for the time being she is Hanimal. And what is even better- when Hannah is crying or throwing a fit- Jeremy says, "When Hanimal Attacks". Thank you Uncle Adam- she now has a nickname!
Unfortunately- we have been calling her Hanimal alot lately because she seems to have some sort of reflux issue that just sends her into fits. I made an appointment with the pediatrician hoping for some sort of answer or relief but we got a prescription for prevacid instead (and the "Colic" conversation but Im not convinced she is Colicky because it just started- not at 3 weeks when they say it usually starts). Fingers crossed the medicine helps...poor thing looks so miserable! Maybe eating makes her feel better because that seems to be all she wants to do. I cant keep up! She weighed 11 pds 6 oz on Thursday. Whew....big girl!
oh and we are officially smiling- a BIG grin last night- we LOVED it! Hoping we can catch it on camera soon!

heads up!

I absolutely love watching Hannah grow and change everyday. She is looking so much older these days and so much more alert and awake (sometimes!) She is SO strong....I dont know if its because she was on the bigger side :) or what, but we have so much fun watching her hold her head up and look around the room. She is really starting to recognize things and is ALMOST smiling! I am dying for the day she smiles in response to my voice!! I also cant wait for her to laugh...I think baby laughs are the BEST sounds!! This is a video of Hannah on my chest holding her head up. She looks like one of those bobble head dolls...ha ha! Before Jeremy got his camera out she was making all kinds of sounds talking to us (probably saying- I want more milk!) but as soon as he started filming she stopped with her sounds. Hope you enjoy!! Cant wait to post a picture of a REAL smile!
