stitches

It was only a matter of time before we headed to the ER for some sort of injury...it just happened sooner than I thought! and I definitely didnt think it would be Hannah before Owen. We were just sitting around on Thursday night playing with Hannah (she was in a wild mood!) running around, showing us her Hula dance that she learned at school that day (it was Hawaiian Luau week at summer camp). So as Hannah is in this wild mood my mom starts this crazy conversation about Hannah getting stitches sooner than later and how its only a matter of time. Literally, seconds later she runs through the family room and falls into her little pink table. The table legs are metal and she hit the bracket just perfectly right above her eye. Of course she started screaming and I just thought it was because it hurt, not because she was bleeding like crazy! Jeremy scooped her up and saw the blood and rushed her to the sink. Thats when he realized she probably needed stitches. Im like NO WAY! I was totally caught off guard and kind of freaked a little. We were running around trying to pack up Owen, stuff for Hannah, and making sure we had a paci and a bunny. Sure enough they thought she needed stitches. I just envisioned Hannah screaming and needles near her eye- awful! But we were at Kosairs so I should have known it would be very kid friendly. They were so amazing. They gave her some motrin, and put some gel on her cut and it numbed it very quickly. Then they gave her some sort of happy juice and in seconds she was a new person. Laughing, rolling around, practically jumping up and down. It was the strangest thing Ive ever seen. Dont get me wrong- her rendition of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star had us laughing hysterically but there was something very weird about seeing a two year old acting like a 21 year old college student. Yikes. Jeremy and I both looked at eachother and agreed she would never be leaving this house :)
After about 20 minutes of that they took her back for stitches. Jeremy went with her and they wrapped her in a sheet, strapped her to a board, put Mickey on the Ipad and stitched her up. She didnt move! Thats pretty amazing- or some really good medicine. She came back in and we were ready to head home. She did so great. And Im pretty sure this is not the first set of stitches! She gets them out on Tuesday and I think Im a little more nervous about that!

sweet baby!!
You can see her bandaid covering her stitches- she has done awesome not messing with them. But everytime she wakes up she points to her head and says, Boo Boo. But she's not in any pain :) and she just LOVES holding her little brother!
